Issue: You have a MacBook with Windows 10 and instead of staying in “sleep” when you close the lid, it shuts down.

Problem: Your power settings are configured to allow for windows to go to hibernate after a specified time. At least this was the case for me. After applying the fix below my macbook stayed in sleep mode after closing the lid for over 8 hours. No having to power it up.

Note: I’ve seen people report that this issue has also been fixed by looking at drivers and such, but this worked for me, so maybe give it a shot.

Fix:

  1. In Windows 10, at the desktop, click the Search the web and Windows box and type “sleep”.
  2. Select Power and Sleep settings, then select Additional power settings at the bottom of the screen.
  3. The Power Options window appears.
  4. Click the Change Plan Settings link next to your current power plan.
  5. Click Change Advanced Power Settings.
  6. Find the Sleep section, and expand the Hibernate After section.
  7. Change the option to “Never” for when the laptop is plugged in and/or on battery.
  8. Click Apply and OK.
